Ford GT40 X1 #4 :
The Ford X1 was a roadster built to contest the 1965 North American Pro Series,
the forerunner of the Can Am series.
Entered by the Bruce McLaren team and driven by Chris Amon, the car had an
aluminium chassis built at Abbey Panels and was originally powered by a 4.5 L
(289ci) engine. It was later upgraded specification to the Mk II with a 7.0 L
(427ci) engine and a standard four ratio Kar Kraft gearbox, however the car kept
specific features like its open roof and lightweight chassis.
The car went on to win the 12H of Sebring 1966.
With my limited modelling skills this is as close as I can get to the real car.
The nose should be longer with extra front winglets above the current ones.
This car comes with it's own 500hp engine, sounds, Michelin tyres
(including Rain Tyres) and I have also fitted a 5 speed gearbox rather than the
original 4 speed.

Ford GT40 X1 #1 :

GT40 X1 #1 reverted back to the original GT40 nose, and windscreen.
Driven by Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby, this red painted roadster took the overall
victory at Sebring in 1966, despite competition from Ferrari's 330 P3, Chapparals
and Porsches. After the race, provisions were made for Holman & Moody to rebuild
X1, but sadly the plan was never acted upon. Instead, the car was ordered
destroyed by customs officials.
